OVERVIEW
In Design by Use: The Everyday Metamorphosis of Things, KISD design professor Uta Brandes argues that users of designed things often see through objects, realizing their potential for unplanned use cases. Designers, meanwhile, are tasked with perceiving potential uses and crafting forms that facilitate them.

To enhance my ability to empathize with unconventional users and expand my understanding of how form facilitates function, for 100 days I repeatedly 1) found or engaged in misuse of objects and digital tools and 2) sketched ways those things might be redesigned to facilitate the unplanned use case.

Through this exercise, I gained a deeper appreciation for the unexpected creativity with which designed things might be used.
